NEXT LECTURE

AIS THIS THE

REAL LIFE

How Writers and Artists have

challenged our Perceptions of Reality

by Mary Sharp

Please join us for the next lecture in the series

What happens when a wardrobe opens into another world, a mysterious letter changes a life, or a single choice reveals that reality is not what it seems?

In this thought-provoking lecture, Mary Sharp explores the enduring fascination writers and artists have had with alternate realities, imagined worlds and hidden truths. From Plato’s allegories to contemporary fiction and film, these stories challenge how we understand reality, identity and meaning itself.

Drawing on literature, art and popular culture, Mary examines why audiences continue to be captivated by stories that question the ordinary and invite us to look beyond what we see.

This engaging evening promises rich discussion, cultural insight and fresh perspectives on some of the most influential stories of our time.
